Dharohar is a Hindi word and means ‘legacy’ or ‘inheritance’. Indian classical music is an old tradition which has been kept alive for many years by passing it on from generation to generation, like an inheritance.

Classical music from India is celebrated worldwide and with our activities we aim to promote and honour this precious tradition in the Netherlands!

About us

We are a team of young professionals and organize high quality Indian classical music concerts and events in the Netherlands.  For over the years we have created a network of (inter)national artists and invite them to perform in The Netherlands. We provide them a platform to showcase their exceptional musical talent. We present Indian classical music in a traditional, yet innovative way!

We also produce music videos and create exclusive content about Indian classical music. Our team members have expertise in different fields, which we combine for the realization of our projects. We frequently collaborate with external professionals to enhance the quality of our work. Teamwork makes the dream work!

For over the past decades Indian classical music has received worldwide recognition thanks to many pioneers like Pt. Ravi Shankar, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Ustad Zakir Hussain, George Harrison and many more. Thank you very much!

Our deepest gratitude goes to a pioneer who was known for his  innovative and path breaking music: Pandit Balaram Pathak (1926-1991) was a unique sitar & surbahar artist and he obtained a special place in the history of Indian music. The Dharohar Foundation was established in his loving memory in 2013.

We're also grateful to Pt. Ashok Pathak & Pt. Anindo Chatterjee for their support, encouragement & inspiration.
